한국응용언어학회(The Applied Linguistics Association of Korea, ALAK)는 응용언어학 연구와 실천을 선도하는 대한민국의 대표 학술 단체입니다. ALAK는 언어 습득과 발달, 언어와 사회•심리, 언어 기술, 언어 평가, 정책 등 동시대 사회가 직면한 다양한 언어 관련 이슈를 학문적으로 탐구하고 연구 성과를 교육과 사회 전반으로 확산하는 데 기여하고 있습니다.

한국응용언어학회(ALAK)는 또한 국제응용언어학회(Association Internationale de Linguistique Appliquée, AILA)에 소속된 학회로서, 국내외 학문 네트워크와의 협력을 통하여 응용언어학 연구의 국제적 확산과 학문적 교류를 이어가고 있습니다.

한국응용언어학회(ALAK)의 주요 활동은 다음과 같습니다.

한국연구재단 등재 학술지인 응용언어학을 연 4회 발간하여 응용언어학 분야의 연구 성과를 체계적으로 축적·확산합니다.
학술대회를 연 1회 정기적으로 개최하여 최신 연구 동향을 공유하고 학문적 교류를 활성화합니다.
연구방법론 워크숍을 운영하여 신진 연구자와 회원들의 연구 역량 및 전문성 강화를 지원합니다.
해외 자매 학회와의 학문적 교류를 통해 국제 학문 네트워크를 확대하고 공동 연구 및 인적 교류를 촉진합니다.

한국응용언어학회(ALAK)는 학문적 성과가 실제 사회적 가치로 이어지는 응용언어학을 지향하며, 연구자와 사회를 잇는 학술 플랫폼으로서의 역할을 꾸준히 수행해 왔습니다. 앞으로도 국내외 학문 네트워크와의 협력을 강화하여, 연구·교육·사회를 연결하는 응용언어학의 실천적 가치를 더욱 확장해 나가겠습니다.

The Applied Linguistics Association of Korea (ALAK) is the leading national academic organization dedicated to research and practice in applied linguistics in the Republic of Korea. ALAK contributes to the field by academically investigating a wide range of language-related issues confronting contemporary society—including language acquisition and development; language in social and psychological contexts; language technologies; language assessment; and language policy—and by disseminating research outcomes across educational and broader social domains.

ALAK is also a member association of the International Association of Applied Linguistics (Association Internationale de Linguistique Appliquée, AILA). Through collaboration with domestic and international academic networks, the Association continues to promote the international dissemination of applied linguistics research and to foster sustained scholarly exchange.

The major activities of ALAK include the following:

Publishing Applied Linguistics (응용언어학), a National Research Foundation of Korea-indexed journal, four times a year to systematically accumulate and disseminate research findings in applied linguistics.
Hosting an annual academic conference to share emerging research trends and to invigorate scholarly exchange.
Offering research methodology workshops to support the development of research competence and professional expertise among early-career researchers and members.
Expanding international academic networks and promoting collaborative research and scholarly exchange through partnerships with sister associations abroad.

ALAK has consistently served as an academic platform that connects researchers and society while advancing an applied linguistics agenda in which scholarly achievement is translated into tangible social value. Moving forward, ALAK will further strengthen collaboration with domestic and international academic networks and continue to expand the practical value of applied linguistics by linking research, education, and society.
